we had a meeting with our mentor this afternoon.
and thanks to Jeanette to give me a ride to Madie's home!!and i really love her red car!!
but i'm too embarrasing to ask what brand is that .... i guess it's a Mustang GTR?? really not sure about it though.
it's a coupe Cabriolet! in vivid red~~

anyways, the point is that, i gain a lot in the meeting.
she talked about the process of her "mentoring circle," how it works and how it differs from "coaching."
the notion is just too fantastic!
people can only "tell stories," not give advice to others. each person has their point of view in terms of different intepretation to things. so when people hear the stories, we pick what works for us. only you yourself know what works for you and the only solutions to problems he/she encountered. i need to struggle this late (not to mention i need to get up at 6:30 for our CCP doing volunteer things tomorrow morning!! @@) to write this down is because i don't want to lose what i learn today. this must be recorded, even though i might not know what i was trying to write down when i see this note in the future. LOL

1. i need you to talk with me, i'm not asking for a jod, but asking for ur wisdom advice for what i am struggling with. just 20 minutes to sit down and talk about it.

2. when you are scared, just think what should you do NEXT. nothing more than THE NEXT STEP. we do get paralyzed in life. the most important thing to do at this point of time is ----take baby steps. don't think too far! just focus on "what's next!" do it step by step.

3. INTENTION. this really parallel to what i've said to Matt i believe. the core of communication is to let the one u'r talking to get what you are trying to convey!! if you try to convey a feeling of friendliness, the most important thing is to "let the one get the exact feeling that you want he/she/them to feel!" Madie told us a little story about this too. even it happened in the business arena, it applies perfectly to our lives as well. what is you intention of saying that? how can you say it in the intention of what u'r holding? so many people have the great intention but they turns out saying things distorted and let others feel exactly the opposit way. what a shame...
"do you intend to humiliate George in front of others?" "no, i don't" "if you do, you really did an excellent job."
"do you intend to embarrass him when it's ur call in the meeting?" "if you do, you are so successful of it!"
what a moral!

oh my goodness! it's so late now@@ gotta take a shower and sleep asap or i'll be too sleepy to do anything tomorrow....hate this feeling...
and sth funny happened to me during the meeting...it's abt cheese and wax....LOL
i'll talk about it later on....

  • Mentor? Is it academic? like an "advisor" in my school?
She must be excellent to worth the title "mentor".
    And she seemed to be.
How fortunate you are to have such a mentor. Happy for you~~~

(now i'm wondering do i make myself clear. orz~~~~~)
  • lol
nope, it's not like an advisor academically.
actually it's a program i joined in my school, and it's for helping students who can gain more in the real business world.
and i think each mentor and mentee has their own communication methods. :)
